Having a healthy pregnancy with proper prenatal and postnatal care helps aid a healthy birth. Such timely care for expecting mothers plays an essential role in not just protecting the unborn child from malnourishment but helps mothers stay safe and healthy themselves. The lack of it, however, can lead to complications in pregnancy and childbirth, increase the risk of miscarriages, and in extreme cases, can even lead to the mother’s death.
Apart from ensuring safe pregnancy for an expecting mother with a healthy birth of the baby, the nutrition received in the first 1000 days of a child’s life is critical for their physical, mental, and cognitive development. Breastfeeding is a critical practice to follow as it gives babies the best start for a healthy life. Breast milk contains everything the baby needs for all-round development in all the right proportions including antibodies to fight diseases. And yet, only 42.6% of mothers* initiate breastfeeding within one hour of childbirth.
Therefore, at Child Rights and You, we are doing everything to help underprivileged mother and their babies get the nutrition and care they urgently need by:
- Ensuring prenatal and postnatal care (proper immunization and prenatal medicines) for all expecting mothers through regular tracking, monitoring, and counseling as per the recommended schedule
- Creating awareness on the importance of breastfeeding and best practices to follow during pregnancy
- Conducting workshops on the importance of nutritious food
- Providing training to set up kitchen gardens to have a sustainable source of nutritious food for both mother and baby
- Ensuring medical support to expecting mothers in case of an emergency during delivery
With the support of generous donors like you, CRY has helped over 4000 mothers and 10,000 babies in India.
While this is a step in the right direction, we have a long way to go and need your help. Your generous contribution will go a long way in giving these underprivileged mothers and their babies a safe and healthy start to life. Donate to CRY today!
